Winning Indoors: Stay In, Stay Healthy During COVID-19

CHALLENGE
When the COVID-19 pandemic forced everyone indoors, a new challenge emerged: how to keep children active and healthy. A sedentary lifestyle made them more vulnerable, physically and mentally. To address this, UNESCO and UNICEF launched the 'Winning Indoors' initiative to bring physical activity into homes.
My role was to create the visual identity and website that would make this movement accessible, fun, and memorable for families.
STRATEGY
Our vision was to build a community where play and creativity could thrive. By giving children an active role in the platform, we transformed them from passive users into valued creators.
To achieve this vision, our design philosophy was built on three core pillars: Playful, bringing the energy of a playground to the digital space; Approachable, ensuring the interface was intuitive for all families; and Community-driven, encouraging user contribution to foster a sense of shared connection. Every design decision, from the color palette to the interactions, served to reinforce these three goals.
BRANDING
To bring hope in a time of anxiety, we designed a brand around the spirit of victory. The "W" and "I" of Winning Indoors were transformed into a torch, a fitting symbol of perseverance. A bold red line then tied the entire visual system together, creating a look that was both cohesive and full of life.
WEB DESIGN
With the target audience in mind, we have designed the website to be as simple and dynamic as possible, potentially to entice children to contribute their ideas and turn the website into a hub for thousands of indoor games in the future.
